THE FRENCH PRESS

THE FRENCH PRESS

The French press is a beautiful technique to get fantastic coffee with little equipment and effort. Is this the ultimate French press technique? Not sure about that, but it is a great one!

Must pointers for a great French press coffee are: 1) don’t grind too coarse! Use a medium grind, 2) weigh your coffee and keep a ratio of 60g of coffee for a liter of water, 3) use filtered water (Brita filters work great), and 4) be patient! Let the coffee brew for five minutes without the cover, then cool down for another five to ten with the lid on without pushing the plunger.

Pro tip: Letting the coffee rest after brewing without a lid will reduce bitterness and enhance acidity.
